Quasi real-time verification and validation of distributed cloud databases.Heterogeneous data analytics of cyber-physical system security.Peer-to-peer energy trading based on virtual power plant services.Topics of interest pertaining to cloud-edge-end orchestrated computing include, but are not limited to: In this special section, we aim to publish state-of-the-art research and engineering practice, including new theories, applications, and case studies about cloud-edge-end orchestrated computing for future control center application of proactive distribution/transmission systems in smart grids. Transmission/distribution control centers can also benefit from cloud-edge-end orchestrated computing, which could enable innovative operational strategies for hierarchical management in order to achieve interactive functions, such as multi-level control and optimization of all-grid-level DERs, voltage and frequency regulation using PMU, special protection schemes (SPS) to infer potential fault or cyber-attacks, etc. To improve system reliability, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are widely deployed into smart grids for collecting huge amounts of information about the system status in real time, which requires computationally efficient technologies for the close-to-real-time prognosis of continent-wide anomalies. However, with a large number of DERs integrated into the smart grid from transmission systems to distribution networks, the system reliability is facing a serious challenge due to the intermittency of renewables. It is essential to digitalize the smart grid with distributed energy resources (DER), which play a significant role in energy efficiency and reconfiguration against massive catastrophe. Phasor measurement units (PMU) data platform and data exchange are the key features across control areas that would enable machine learning on grid control and stabilization. This title also considers submissions on X as a Service, where X may be infrastructure, storage, network, platform, database, information, security, management, software, mobile backend, or business process of energy control center platforms. It is committed to the publication of articles that present innovative research ideas, application results, and case studies in cloud computing, focusing on key technical issues related to theory, algorithms, systems, applications, and performance. IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing ( TCC) is dedicated to the multidisciplinary field of cloud computing.
